Weather
by Volcano

9 - 25 October
Touring

In association with The Moving Company, Volcano is presenting Weather in villages across England as part of the National Rural Touring Forum. A one-woman show about depression that isn’t depressing, Weather follows the forecasts of an eccentric and entirely charming TV weather woman over the course of a vicious Canadian winter – moving, in every sense, from 'high and bright' to 'low and unstable'. This is a show bursting with clown, dance, music and nasty weather; a very funny piece, with a very serious intent.

Writer, performer and choreographer Rebecca Hope Terry is known internationally as one of Canada’s finest contemporary dancers and a talented multi-disciplinary creator. Weather is directed by Ross Manson, award-winning theatre artist, founder and Artistic Director of Volcano. Ross has been described as 'one of Toronto’s finest interdisciplinary directors' (NOW Magazine, Toronto), and 'Visionary' (Backstage, New York City). The composer and sound designer is John Gzowski, one of the finest and most heralded composers for theatre and dance in Canada.

Weather made its acclaimed World Premiere at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre in August 2002. Weather was acclaimed in Edinburgh:

'a mixture of bright, comic performance, lyrical monologue and startling, angular dance… full of charm and compassion and delivered with real physical flair, straight from the heart.'
Joyce McMillan, THE SCOTSMAN

'not since Nicole Kidman did for her husband in the film To Die For have the neurotics of a TV weather girl been so strangely compelling…'
Sarah Barrell, THE INDEPENDENT

'strangely endearing ... enough eye candy and emotion to melt the coldest heart'
Phil Maynard, THE INDEPENDENT VOICE
